Living in Thailand

If you have ever considered living in Thailand it can be a wonderful and rewarding experience. Similarly, it can be a personal struggle if you don't plan with care.

There is so much to consider, but if you understand how things work you can tailor the type of life you are dreaming about. Most people would want to consider the following:

  • Learn some basics of the Thai Language; even a limited ability is appreciated by the locals and often breaks the ice.
  • Be aware of the Thai law in respect to land ownership and property.
  • Learn more about the type type of Thailand travel visa you will need.
  • Learn about Thai people, their culture and attitude to us foreigners ('farang').
  • Although you may love to live there consider how you may one day wish to return to your country of birth. In short, if it's possible make sure you have a bolt hole
  • Most of us will need to visit a doctor or use a hospital at some point. Learn more about this and how to stay healthy Thailand travel insurance and health
