Sunset over Rim Pae

We were privileged to see these sunsets when we stayed at the Novotel Rim Pae Rayong. The hotel is ideally located on one of Rayong's more secluded beaches.

Although the resort itself is quiet, there are plenty of attractions in Rayong to keep you busy, but if we wanted action we would not have chosen this area.

We have not been to area in the summer so we don't know how crowded it might get with Thai visitors. Having said this, Thai winters are the ideal time visit the Rayong province, or at lease we think that applies to any non-Thai nationals who will not shiver temperatures from 25-30 degrees.

The Novotel Rim Pae Rayong Hotel deserves a special mention here. Not only is the location ideal for exploring this fascinating coastline, but the level of service from the friendly staff really made us feel welcomed.

The poolside restaurant and bar have some excellent snacks and reasonably priced drinks, but if you want to save money, hit the beach, turn right and it's a five minute walk to the local food and drink stands.

The rooms are verrrryy nice thank you and the service of the attentive staff really makes you feel welcomed and relaxed.

You have probably guessed by now that we loved every minute of our stay.

From the hotel swimming pool, you can walk straight onto the hotel's private beach where the waves rolled in at a 'Caribbean trickle'

As with any decent hotel, you can shower the sand off before returning to the hotel.

Anyone for Coffee?

I love fresh coffee! and I found a quiet little coffee shop less a short drive from the hotel. Rim Pae Coffee Just turn left out of the Novotel and it's on the right after about a mile or so.

It closes between 7 and 8pm so we got into the routine of going there in the late afternoon (with some reading material of course) so we could get back to the hotel for sunset - our favourite time of day.

One sunset in particular caught everyone's eye and attracted some small crowds to the beach (there are never usually any crowds) just so they could just take it all in! It was a real showstopper as you can see from the pictures we took.

We can recommend the Novotel hotel and Rim Pae resort and the resort for a relaxing break. We are going back there for Christmas!

Let's hope Santa brings us some more sunsets like these
