"Thai people celebrate the King's birthday with the Thai Royal Family"

On the King’s birthday it’s not just the Thai Royal Family that celebrate.

The whole country comes out to join in.

We were lucky enough to be in Phuket on one such day and the parade was endless as you can see from the photos below.

There are officially no bars open on the King’s birthday but if you do need to drink then the hotels are happy to accommodate you!

We think that the real reason is that they don’t really want to work. Not surprisingly they all want to join in with the party.

The celebration went on through the afternoon and we made lots of friends! Everyone was ther from hotel staff to the Royal Thai Police

We saw a few musical instruments that you don't normally see in a marching band in the West!
