Thailand Climate
The Thailand climate patterns can make or break your holiday; it may not be the most prudent plan to spend your time in a beach resort during the rainy season. Especially if you are are searching for the sun. Thailand's tropical climate can deliver some glorious weather if you know which time to visit. Similarly, if you don't like it too hot or wet there are certain places that can be uncomfortably hot without a Sea breeze to cool you down. Understanding the weather in Thailand may help you to choose the best time for your Thailand holiday, depending on your agenda. The information below is indicative of what you may expect, for more accurate information; visit one of the many weather sites available on the WEB. Best WeatherGenerally, the best time to visit Thailand as a tourist is during the Thai winter from November(ish); the end of the rainy season until about the end of March. This is when the Weather in Thailand is at it's mildest but warm enough to enjoy your sunshine holiday.Although the Thai winter may be mild for the Thais, the temperature is relatively warm for the average tourist and you will get plenty of opportunities to sun-bath and break out the knobbly white knees if you are looking to get a sun tan; so don't forget the sunscreen. From April it tends to get very hot and humid, no problem if you are in a beach resort and participating in lots of water based activities, but it can be uncomfortable for sightseeing in the daytime. However, if you want to enjoy a beach holiday in Thailand you can more or less guarantee the sunshine.

We would recommend sticking to the beach resorts during this period so you can cool off in the pool during the daytime and leave the markets for the warm evenings. The Thailand climate does vary from North to South with the warmest areas usually being the beach resorts around the South of Thailand. The area around Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai in Northern Thailand tend to be less humid.... Working your way from North to South the temperatures tend to vary somewhere in-between. The Bangkok weather can be very humid; this mixed with the traffic fumes can mean that the air quality can be poor in the hotter parts of the year. Not a problem if you are only visiting for a week or two but if you are asthmatic or planning a longer visit you may need to consider this. We love to visit Bangkok but it's not a place we would consider living (having tried it). By driving for just a few hours out of Bangkok; for example north east towards Korat (where we live), the Winters are very pleasant indeed, November to early march can be like a very pleasant English Summer (without the bad bits such as drizzle) and humidity is not a problem. Temperatures around Korat in the winter vary from 18-30 in the day time to 12-22 in the night-time. Southern ThailandDuring the winter (best time to visit) the temperatures in the beach resorts such as Phuket and Krabi will be a few degrees hotter than the central area of Thailand in the day-time - approx 30-32 degrees centigrade. During the night-the temperatures only drop by 4-8 degrees, sometimes less, making the evenings far warmer than Central Thailand. This is very nice for a beach resort as there is more likely-hood of being cooled by the sea breeze. The rainy season in Thailand seems to be at its peak in September to October, but the heavy rains could hit your visit at any time in the Thai Summer.
