  • Metered Taxis - these are usually found in Major Cities such as Bangkok and Chiang Mai but are beginning to make an appearance in some of the less known cities, Find out how they charge..
  • Tuk Tuks - These come in all shapes and sizes, not just the more 3 wheeled variety found in Bangkok
  • Currency - The currency of Thailand is the Thai Baht; the exchange rate against many Western States has varied over the last few years...
  • Currency Exchange / ATM / Credit Cards - Avoid any surprises by understanding the best way to utilise these services
  • Bars / Bar Bills - In many of the more popular resorts it is common place for the bar bill to accumulate so you can pay the bill at the end of the evening...

  • Tipping - Tipping is not common place amongst Thais but with more tourists travelling to Thailand each year it pays to understand how much to tip and when not to
  • Water - The tap water in Thailand is not considered suitable for drinking, if in doubt always play safe and stick to the (sealed) bottled varieties
  • Travel Adaptors - Thai mains electricity is generally 220 volts and uses 2 pin plugs, make sure you take the appropriate travel adaptor with you
  • Drugs - Simple rules to follow, don't try them, don't buy them, don't carry them and above all don't try to deal in them. For those of you who think you can get away with it remember the punishments could be harsh you may be in a Thai prison for a very long time.... without air conditioning
